One of my goals this month was to take a self portrait and this is what I got.  I used my remote to focus and my flash.

Day 65: November 9, 2011

Grace and I have Wednesday evenings to ourselves while the boys are at Jiu Jitsu and AWANAS and sometimes we treat ourselves to something fun...like hot fudge sundaes.  I wanted to take some photos of me and Grace like I did of me and Ethan awhile back so I plopped the camera on the other side of the dining table and ran back and forth with the timer.  Grace had a lot of fun too!

January 7: Day 365

I did it! I produced a photo every day of the year for 2010 and I have to say I feel pretty proud of myself. I wanted a grand finale for the project and I thought that ending with a self portrait (the same way I began) would be a fitting ending. So without further ado, the last photo of the 2010 Project 365:

October 12: Day 278

I am absolutely thrilled to be able to take photos of Grace with both her eyes open. It seems like such a little thing but for us it's huge! Her right eye is still slightly pink which I guess is due to the enlarged veins in her eyelid as it heals. Apparently it takes awhile to completely heal. I love this photo I took of her. We were just sitting on the kitchen floor petting the cats and she told me some stories. With Grace I get better photos when I have her tell me a story rather then have her smile. I prefer natural photos of my kids where I actually recognize their facial expressions!

June 24: Day 168

I don't know what possessed me but since I had some free time with my camera this afternoon I played around with doing a self portrait. I think I deleted 99% of the photos I took because holding the camera at the right angle to compose and not get glare on my glasses is just about impossible. Especially one handed. I did switch to Auto Focus which helped some, I can't imagine trying to focus manually without looking!

March 10: Day 62

I'm feeling completely lethargic and useless today. I hate being sick. I've spent 99% of the day on the couch with my feet up. Looking at my cute slippers I was inspired to take a photo of them and thought it was especially fitting since I haven't taken them off today. In fact I went out in public wearing my super cute slippers today and have worn them to pick up my daughter from preschool twice this week. It's a good thing so few people actually pay attention to footwear.

January 8: Day 1

I've decided to challenge myself to take at least one photo a day for a year, mostly as a way to keep myself working on improving my skills. I'm also hoping that I might get in the habit of carrying my camera with me more often! To kick start my 365 days of continuous photos I thought I'd start with a self portrait. Self portraits are hard. This one took me probably five minutes to accomplish using a tripod and a stuffed horse as a decoy to get my camera to focus. Then I used the timer and attempted to put myself exactly where the horse was to keep the photo in focus. It took several tries to get a somewhat focused photo that looked halfway decent. I would have happier if I got my face in focus rather then my hands, but my diamond sure looks good!

By the way, the plastic camera doesn't work. It's a fun toy for the kids I picked up at the thrift store so that they can take photos with me.
