Day 186: March 9, 2012

I finally got the chance to take my new 135L out to play this evening, and what a gorgeous evening it was!  I bribed the kids with McDonalds to get them to semi-cooperate with me to stand in the spot I ask and face my general direction.  I like all the photos I took (there are a lot!) but this one is different because it shows Ethan's serious side which he doesn't often show for the camera.  He's my smiley guy, but I love to capture all sides of my sweet boy!

Day 185: March 8, 2012

I had the pleasure of photographing a baby boy this morning in some gorgeous natural light!  His older brother was one of my first newborn sessions and it was fun to see how similar they look.  I can't think of a better way to spend the morning then photographing a newborn!

Day 184: March 7, 2012

Grace lost tooth #4 today while eating a cookie at lunch.  She was soooooo excited to finally loose a tooth at school because then she got to go to the office and get a plastic tooth necklace that she wore the rest of the day.  That's a pretty big deal when you're six!

Day 183: March 6, 2012

I snuck outside in the "dusting" of snow (seriously NOT enough for a 2 hour school delay) in my pj's to get some macro frost shots.  Can't resist frost and morning sunlight!

Day 182: March 5, 2012

Found some interesting color starting to show up in the brambles behind my house....come one spring!

Day 181: March 4, 2012

You guessed it...working with my 85mm again!  Ethan wanted to go outside and take photos with me, so we walked around the house and took pictures of mud, shells, leaves, and him when he'd let me!

Day 180: March 3, 2012

Still playing with my 85mm for portraits.  Ethan wasn't too enthused to model for me, but at least he stood there relatively still.  The space behind him is where a section of the fence between our house and neighbor's fell down.  Lovely.

Day 179: March 2, 2012

Getting away from the sticks and brambles...and on to the hated azaleas.  I really don't like azaleas for most of the year, they have a few days of being pretty and that's about it.  I do like the red tipped leaves on the buds right now though...

Day 178: March 1, 2012

I'm trying to practice with my 85mm a little more often and I talked Grace into standing outside for 2 minutes to let me get a few photos.  She's such a girly girl she had to spend 5 minutes doing her hair before she'd agree to it!

Day 177: February 29, 2012

Since I was still getting over jet lag today I didn't pick my camera up much, but I did manage to sneak outside to catch some evening light in the brambles behind my house.  Can't wait for spring and something to photograph other than dead brambles and sticks!

Day 176: February 28, 2012

I spent 22 hours travelling home today, and finally took this photo right before my plane landed in Portland.  It was late at night and my eyes were pretty blurry, so the fact that my camera wanted nothing to do with focusing seemed to be right on par with how I was feeling so I went with it.  In case you can't tell, the colored blobs are from tv screens.

Day 175: February 27, 2012

This morning I had some time to entertain myself so I started off the day by checking out Buckingham Palace. There wasn't a lot to do there, other than take some photos, since the palace is closed to the public for most of the year.

Day 174: February 26, 2012

Another golden hour photo opportunity....this was taken just as I exited the Tube at Parliament Square.  Classic!

Day 173: February 25, 2012

We were walking around looking for some dinner and the lighting was absolutely magical.  I cranked my ISO up and took advantage of the pink sunset hues for all their worth.  I tried a couple of times to get a good shot of a red double decker bus whizzing past us and finally got this.

Day 172: February 24, 2012

I took this photo in the White Tower of the Tower of London.  I thought the curved staircase had fabulous texture and lines, and the narrow window provided some fairly dramatic late afternoon lighting.  The Tower of London was definitely my favorite spot to visit!

Day 171: February 23, 2012

I took this towards the end of a long day's journey to London.  This is as the of our Chicago to London flight around 5am London time.  The airplane was dark and fairly empty, with most people attempting to rest a bit.

Day 170: February 22, 2012

A quick photo taken hastily before heading up to my Mom's house to drop off the kids and leave for London!

Day 169: February 21, 2012

Getting packed for our trip to London....passports in hand!

Day 168: February 20, 2012

The king of the pout...my boy E!

Day 167: February 19, 2012

I went on a photo walk downtown Salem this afternoon with a group of women from the Momtographers photography group I belong to.  We had a lot of fun and I took the opportunity to play around with different lenses.  I love the colors and texture of this shot.

Day 166: February 18, 2012

We spent a lazy Saturday afternoon with our friends Pat and Katie and their little girl Ryanne.  I brought along my camera since babies are always fun to photograph and got a few fun shots of Daddy and Ryanne playing together in the living room.  Wheee!

Day 165: February 17, 2012

So maybe I'm a little late doing my kids' Valentines photos this year...but I was really hoping to do them outside and the weather just wasn't cooperating.  Since Grace had the day off from school I thought it'd be a good day to do our session, the kids weren't too enthused until I pulled out the giant suckers I bought last year after Christmas for $.50 a pop.  Their eyes lit up and they were ready to wear and do anything I asked in order to get the candy.  This is set up in my garage on a rainy overcast day using natural light from the open garage door.

Day 164: February 16, 2012

I was thinking about different perspectives when I took this photo of my favorite water cup.  I like the view from the top, especially with the way the shadow falls.

Day 163: February 15, 2012

Ethan is one tired little guy in this late in the day photo.  We had just gotten back from shopping at Costco where we stopped to enjoy some Costco hot dogs for dinner.

Day 162: February 14, 2012

Today Grace brought home her Valentines from school in this adorable paper bag.  She must have made it last Friday because she's wearing the exact same outfit (pink fringe boots and all!) in the picture of herself that she colored on the bag.  Too cute for words.

Day 161: February 13, 2012

Today I submitted to craft fever and worked on making some newborn headbands and misc. hair pretties.  Shopping Etsy usually has me hunting on Google and YouTube to figure out how to make fabric flowers and the like.  I even taught myself to crotcher thanks to a YouTube video!

Day 160: February 12, 2012

We went to a friend's birthday party this afternoon and I brought my camera along to snap a few photos since the birthday girl's mom was busy hosting the party.  It's just way too hard to be host and take photos too, I didn't pick up my camera at either of my kids' parties last year either!  This one of the birthday girl wiping a sloppy baby kiss off her cheek is my favorite.

Day 159: February 11, 2012

I brought my camera with me to Grace's basketball practice this morning, wanted to make sure I got some decent photos before basketball season is over!  She has a huge grin on her face for most of the hour long practice and has a fabulous attitude.  She may not be the best ball player but it's certainly not for lack of heart!

Day 158: February 10, 2012

Today was the second of Ethan's three Valentines parties this year...and our last Indoor Park Valentines party which is kind of sad.  I snapped this one of Ethan enjoying his pink frosted sugar cookie.
