The weather was absolutely fabulous today so the kids and I spent nearly two hours playing at the city park this afternoon to celebrate! Grace was super busy but I managed to get a few of her sliding down the pole and going across the monkey bars.

Day 228: April 20, 2012
Just a quick pic of the head scratcher David got for Christmas that lives in the office. The thing is surprisingly handy.
Day 227: April 19, 2012
My 50mm stopped focusing a few weeks ago and got sent into Canon for repair. I was a little lost without my favorite lens, so I was ecstatic when it was delivered fixed and good as new! Of course the only person home at the time was David and he was glued to the Xbox...
Day 226: April 18, 2012
Dexter hanging out on the couch with us watching late night television. Used my iPhone for fill light!

Day 225: April 17, 2012
I hate it when I forget to take a photo for the day until late at night. Believe it or not the bathrooms have the best lighting in our house at night so I was perusing the bathroom with my camera and thought this little tin Dutch row house collection would make an interesting subject. It's been hanging out in our bathroom for the past ten years and lived on David's dorm desk before that. I can't remember if he picked it up on his trip to the Netherlands in high school or if his Oma brought it back for him on one of her trips. Regardless, I still think they're pretty cool!
Day 224: April 16, 2012
The backyard tree is finally blossomed out, I took this at sunset while standing in a large (empty) flower planter to get tall enough!
Day 223: April 15, 2012
I met with the Momtographers group this afternoon for a photo walk at the cherry blossoms next to the capitol. We were a little too late for cherry blossoms (glad I went two weeks ago when I had the chance with the kids!) but we found plenty to photograph around the capitol grounds and on Willamette University campus right across the street. I found this little ladybug in the daffodil beds just before we really got going.
Day 222: April 14, 2012
Grace really wanted to participate in the Dallas Dragon Run this year so we registered her and made it to the starting line with only a minute or two to spare. She ran her little heart out for half a mile and was ecstatic to earn a medal and blue gatorade at the finish line. So glad the weather was nice and it didn't rain!
Day 221: April 13, 2012
Took the kids with me location scouting for a session this weekend. We checked out a few of our favorite spots in the city park to see what they look like at the moment and found lots of promising spots. Grace remembered this fence from last summer and insisted I take her photo next to it.

Day 220: April 12, 2012
I went outside this afternoon for 15 minutes after helping Grace finish her homework and had some fun with my macro while the lighting was decent. Love the cherry blossoms on our tree!

Day 218: April 10, 2012
We took a few photos before we left for Ethan's preschool spring program. Grace brought her camera along and Ethan insisted on looking at her camera before he'd look at mine so I snapped a few to get my exposure correct and happened to like how this one turned out!
And here's what I wound up with when he finally looked my direction:

Day 217: April 9, 2012
Grace started her dance class a week ago and is loving it! She pays very close attention and while she's squirmy she seems to be keeping up with it. You can see her look of concentration in this shot!
Day 216: April 8, 2012
I chased after Grace during the egg hunt at church Easter morning and had a tough time keeping up with her and all the changing light levels! I probably should have switched to AP mode since it was too fast to really keep up with, but I did get this photo I rather like of her in the choir room.
Day 215: April 7, 2012
The kids and I went to a friend's baby's first birthday party and she made the cutest cupcakes! They were tasty to boot :)
Day 214: April 6: 2012
I had a few hours to spare this afternoon so I loaded the kids in the van and threw their Easter outfits in to change into when we got to town (wasn't chancing them getting them dirty since Easter was 2 days away!). We spent about an hour in front of the capitol building enjoying the cherry blossom trees and spring flowers. We ran into a friend and her daughters which made the trip extra fun!
Day 213: April 5, 2012
Ethan started pee wee soccer through the YMCA last week with two friends and is loving it! He's doing a fabulous job participating and following directions which is what we have been stressing. So much better than basketball, plus it's nice to have friends to chat with while hanging out in the gym for 45 minutes twice a week!

Day 212: April 4, 2012
I brought my camera to Indoor Park this morning to get a few photos of Ethan playing. I've been coming to Indoor Park at least once a week since 2006 and won't be back next year since Ethan will be in preschool during park times. It's an end of an era, one I will sorely miss and feel compelled to document.
Day 210: April 2, 2012
I took Ethan out for a quick impromptu photo session with the goal of getting a photo of him to put on a canvas. He was already wearing this shirt and the sunlight was begging us to enjoy it so we left dinner warming in the oven and scooted to our field for ten minutes. I like this outtake of him playing with his buttons.
Day 209: April 1, 2012
My boys being silly together. I was testing out my 135L in the house and my little photographer buddy was taking photos with his camera too.
Day 205: March 28, 2012
Grace won this jar of Skittles at a rainbow birthday party by being the closest to guess how many candies were in the jar. Tasty prize!
Day 203: March 26, 2012
We waited a day for the plaster to finish drying before painting the volcano with the paints included in the kit. Originally Grace was going to paint it in rainbow colors before finally settling on black with red lava. She was nice enough to let her little brother help paint a little bit.
Day 202: March 25, 2012
Grace is really into volcanoes and bought a volcano making kit with some birthday money. Here she is mixing the plaster to pour into the mold to form her volcano.
Day 201: March 24, 2012
Dexter all curled up and enjoying the bed pillows and the afternoon sun. Sometimes I wish I could trade places with my cats.
Day 199: March 22, 2012
It snowed. Again. Is spring ever going to get here? I didn't get outside to take a photo until late afternoon when only a few patches of ice were left in my drowned back yard.
Day 198: March 21, 2012
I took this photo of Grace's last ride in her Britax Marathon. She's been in a convertible car seat for over six years and is sooooo excited to finally be over 40lbs and riding in a booster seat.
Day 197: March 20, 2012
I'm having fun with my macro lens lately! This is one of the little flowering weeds that are threatening to take over my bark dust. At least they make for pretty pictures.
Day 196: March 19, 2012
I took some macro shots of the beautiful orchid my husband gave me awhile ago. I never keep them alive for very long, but the flowers last for weeks so they're better than roses!
Day 191: March 14, 2012
Back in the kitchen with Ethan again. This time we were baking chocolate brownies which were delicious as evidenced by Ethan's chocolate mustache.
Day 190: March 13, 2012
Ethan's emotions can change at the drop of a hat from happy as a lark to woe is me. I don't remember what caused the angry look in this photo, but it was taken at the dining room table so it probably had to do with what he was eating which is obviously a life or death matter when you're four.
Day 188: March 11, 2012
I waited for David to be out of town to make Friendship Stew since he's not a fan. It makes a ton so the kids and I eat it twice a day for about four days to finish it up which gets a little old, but cooking once for 8 meals is a bonus! Here's Friendship Stew served preschool style.
Day 187: March 10, 2012
One of the weekly challenges for the Momtographers group this month was to take a mystery macro for everyone to guess. This one's not too hard, it's a potato.
