New Years Eve I looked outside and saw that the light was absolutely gorgeous. I knew there was only a few minutes of light left in the day so Grace and I hurried outside to take a few photos during the last Golden Hour of 2011. I love this one!

Day 116: December 30, 2011
More on camera flash practice. This time finally understanding and getting directional light to happen the way I want it to!
Day 115: December 29, 2011
After spending time with my flash again I finally got frustrated and took it off. Turns out my natural light skills beat my on camera flash skills any day!
Day 114: December 28, 2011
Spent the day reading my On Camera Flash book and practicing some more with my flash...Captain America sure made for an excellent subject.
Day 113: December 27, 2011
Santa brought Grace a pink camera which she delights in using. I was practicing with my flash and she was taking my photo at the same time.
Day 111: December, 25, 2011
While I did pick up my camera more then I did last year, I still didn't take a lot of photos. I like to take a break from the camera for things like Christmas morning when I want to watch my kids enjoy Christmas without a camera in front of my face! I couldn't resist a few of The Flash though...
Day 110: December 24, 2011
Uncle Sam helped Ethan do his hair for Christmas Eve and I got a photo of the two of them when they were done. So handsome!
Day 108: December 22, 2011
Ethan makes the silliest faces at me sometimes. I was lucky this came out mostly in focus because he kept leaning in to me and back again quickly!
Day 106: December 20, 2011
Grace made this gingerbread house with her pen pal at school. I had to get a photo of it before it was eaten!
Day 104: December 18, 2011
We celebrated Christmas with my Mom today at her house. I took some candids as we were opening gifts and this one is my favorite, Mom always has the best gift opening expressions!
Day 102: December 16, 2011
I volunteered to do the Indoor Park Santa photos again this year, here's Ethan with Santa! I decided to bounce my flash rather then use my OCF setup this year, and apparently I'm getting better at using my flash then I thought since this year's photo looks better then last years. Or perhaps after editing thousands of photos my editing skills have improved? Regardless, I like to see progress!
Day 101: December 15, 2011
Day 98: December 12, 2011
Are you tired of photos of this bush in our front yard yet? Yeah me too. Too bad it's the only thing blooming right now!
Day 95: December 9, 2011
This morning was so pink and perfect I literally ran back in the house to grab my camera when I opened the garage door on our way to school drop off. I parked in front of Abby's Pizza and stood outside in my slippers freezing to take this. Love the light!
Day 94: December 8, 2011
One of my goals this month was to take a self portrait and this is what I got. I used my remote to focus and my flash.
Day 92: December 6, 2011
We woke up to a super frosty morning that turned into a super frosty day. The spiderwebs all over town were totally white!
Day 91: December 5, 2011
I found these pretty ivy looking leaves growing in a neighbor's yard. Yes I'm officially bored of the plants in our yard!
Day 90: December 4, 2011
All the location scouting a few days ago paid off since I went back to the same location as the bored photo of Ethan for this cutie's session. So adorable!
Day 88: December 2, 2011
I took the kids location scouting with me in Salem. When I'm location scouting I'm just looking at backgrounds and lighting so I just ask the kids to stand somewhere and don't care if they look at me or not. I usually trash most of the photos I take but this one I kept because I think Ethan's bored expression is kind of cute!
Day 87: December 1, 2011
I discovered that the golden morning light is absolutely fabulous on the side of our house. Too bad there's not much space! And nevermind Ethan's outfit that he put together himself, the boy has the oddest fashion sense.

Day 85: November 29, 2011
Evening sunlight in the back yard. The poor back yard tree is still hanging on to some colorful leaves!
Day 84: November 28, 2011
Took the kids to the field behind our house for some photos for fun today. When we left the house the sun was out, but by the time we scooted on the scooters around the block the clouds were back. Ah well, it worked. I love this photo of Ethan with his crazy hair!
Day 83: November 27, 2011
Found this tiny purple flower on a neighbor's bush out exploring in the afternoon. Tired of the slim pickings in our small yard!
Day 82: November 26, 2011
I barely caught the last bit of evening sunlight tonight but it made for some really cool bokeh. The circle of light to the left is the sun through all the brambles!
Day 80: November 24, 2011
Thanksgiving! I didn't take a lot of photos since I was busy in the kitchen hosting dinner this year, but I did snap this one of my pretty table all set. I do break out the china and crystal every now and again!
Day 79: November 23, 2011
The kids helped me make three of the four pies we had for Thanksgiving this year. We put the dough together and then they "helped" me roll it out and make the crust look pretty. We made two pumpkin pies and one apple, my mom brought the tasty chocolate pecan!
Day 77: November 21, 2011
Taking advantage of beautiful morning sunshine when it happens! More of our front yard leaves...it's either that or dead hydrangeas or more grass!
Day 76: November 20, 2011
Mom came down to go to church with us this morning and stayed for a little bit of the afternoon. Grace was happy to get a chance to read a little with Grandma!
Day 75: November 19, 2011
Dexter was not impressed by my flash when I was practicing again. I've been working hard at improving with my flash indoors in poor lighting situations but it's hard to find cooperative subjects!
Day 73: November 17, 2011
Ethan and I got to drive up to the Portland Airport this evening to pick up my favorite Father in Law who came to visit for a long weekend. Naturally Ethan wanted to dress to impress so he chose his outfit carefully. Here he is having Daddy help him with his bow tie and I practiced bouncing my flash again.
Day 72: November 16, 2011
The dark gray weather this morning had me worried for an upcoming newborn session so I decided to practice some more with my off camera lighting set up and softbox. I just wish all babies could be as cooperative as Blue Baby is when posing!

Day 70: November 14, 2011
We keep a Bowl of Thankfullness during the month of November where we write down what we're thankful for each day. It's fun to watch the bowl fill with thanksgivings and we read them Thanksgiving day. This year Grace wrote all of her own slips of paper!
