Grace and I were having fun taking macro photos together.  She was having fun looking at herself in my camera lens and I was having fun photographing her facial features.  Since she was in a rare cooperative mood for such an activity I took advantage!  I had her look down for a few shots since I rarely get to photograph her pretty eyelashes :)

Day 236: April 28, 2012

The Momtographers photography group I participate in had a maternity session at the local park for a friend of mine who is pregnant with baby #4.  We had a great time and I got completely soaked and in the end this is my favorite of the morning.

Awards night at Awanas, this was taken during the ceremony and after Ethan managed to smear half the ketchup from his hot dog all over his face.

I hate it when I forget to take a photo for the day until late at night.  Believe it or not the bathrooms have the best lighting in our house at night so I was perusing the bathroom with my camera and thought this little tin Dutch row house collection would make an interesting subject.  It's been hanging out in our bathroom for the past ten years and lived on David's dorm desk before that.  I can't remember if he picked it up on his trip to the Netherlands in high school or if his Oma brought it back for him on one of her trips.  Regardless, I still think they're pretty cool!

Day 218: April 10, 2012

We took a few photos before we left for Ethan's preschool spring program.  Grace brought her camera along and Ethan insisted on looking at her camera before he'd look at mine so I snapped a few to get my exposure correct and happened to like how this one turned out!

I chased after Grace during the egg hunt at church Easter morning and had a tough time keeping up with her and all the changing light levels!  I probably should have switched to AP mode since it was too fast to really keep up with, but I did get this photo I rather like of her in the choir room.

I took this photo of Grace's last ride in her Britax Marathon.  She's been in a convertible car seat for over six years and is sooooo excited to finally be over 40lbs and riding in a booster seat.

Ethan's emotions can change at the drop of a hat from happy as a lark to woe is me.  I don't remember what caused the angry look in this photo, but it was taken at the dining room table so it probably had to do with what he was eating which is obviously a life or death matter when you're four.

This morning I had some time to entertain myself so I started off the day by checking out Buckingham Palace. There wasn't a lot to do there, other than take some photos, since the palace is closed to the public for most of the year.

I took this photo in the White Tower of the Tower of London.  I thought the curved staircase had fabulous texture and lines, and the narrow window provided some fairly dramatic late afternoon lighting.  The Tower of London was definitely my favorite spot to visit!

I wouldn't have ventured very far from this cozy position on my bed, but we had plans in Portland to celebrate with our traditional Christmas dinner with my Mom and brother while he's home on leave.  So I convalesced on my Mom's couch instead of my bed and even ate a little salmon dinner.

Today I bought myself a project off Craigslist in the form of a $40 dresser.  Should keep me busy for the week while David's away.

Day 120: January 3, 2012

Today Ethan hit a big milestone: his very first basketball practice!  He was soooo excited to pull out his basketball clothes and play ball with other kids.  Still need to work on paying attention to the coaches and participating for the entire 45 minutes, but he'll get there.

Uncle Sam helped Ethan do his hair for Christmas Eve and I got a photo of the two of them when they were done.  So handsome!

Dexter was not impressed by my flash when I was practicing again.  I've been working hard at improving with my flash indoors in poor lighting situations but it's hard to find cooperative subjects!
